Montparnasse ↔ Orly taxi at a flat fare

Arriving from Brittany, Nantes or Bordeaux by TGV at Montparnasse and having to fly out of Orly a few hours later is a connection many travellers dread. The two are linked by no direct train, and the public-transport route means at least one change, with your luggage. The taxi bridges the gap in one go, from the station exit to the drop-off point of your terminal.

Good news for the budget: Gare Montparnasse lies on the left bank, in the 14th and 15th arrondissements. The trip therefore falls under the regulated Paris ↔ Orly left-bank flat fare, the lower of the two Orly fares. The price is the same by day or night, luggage included, and you know it before you get in.

How long from Montparnasse to Orly by taxi?

About fifteen kilometres separate the station from the airport, via Porte d'Orléans then the A6 and A106. Allow generally 25 to 45 minutes depending on the time and traffic.

At the morning and late-afternoon peaks, the ring road and the A6 slow down: we then set the departure time with enough margin for check-in and security. The flat fare does not move, even if the road is busy. All four terminals, Orly 1, 2, 3 and 4, are served; give yours for a drop-off at the right spot.

Taxi or public transport between Montparnasse and Orly?

Without a taxi, you have to combine the metro with Orlyval or line 14, now extended to the airport: at least one change, stairs and corridors, then a walk to the terminal. It is cheap for a light traveller. With several suitcases, children or a tight gap between train and plane, the taxi removes every transfer and lets you breathe after the TGV.

Booking the Montparnasse ↔ Orly taxi

For the station-to-airport direction, give your train number and arrival time: the driver follows its progress and waits at the agreed Montparnasse exit. For the airport-to-station direction, the flight number is enough; you are met in arrivals with a name sign, then it is off to the station for your Atlantic TGV.

• Back from a flight at Orly towards Rennes, Nantes, Bordeaux or La Rochelle via Montparnasse.
• A family with a buggy and suitcases who want to avoid the metro.

What if the TGV or the flight is late?

It is the main worry with a train-plus-plane connection, and the reason we track your journey in real time. If your TGV reaches Montparnasse late, the driver sees it and waits at the agreed exit, at no extra charge; the ride starts as soon as you are aboard, at the same flat fare. In the other direction, flight tracking absorbs a late landing at Orly. For a really tight connection, say so when booking: we work out the departure time as precisely as possible and tell you if the margin looks too short, rather than letting you discover the problem on the way.
