Paris taxi prices: airport flat fares and fixed prices
How much does a taxi cost in Paris? Between the city and Roissy-CDG or Orly airports, the price is a regulated flat fare, the same for every taxi. For other trips, we quote a fixed price before departure. Here is the full grid, with no meter and no surprise.
The price of a taxi in Paris follows two very different logics, which is what makes fares hard to compare. Between Paris and the two main airports, Roissy-Charles de Gaulle and Orly, the ride is a flat fare set by decree: the same amount for every taxi, day or night, whatever the traffic. Everywhere else in the city, a taxi hailed in the street runs on the meter, with regulated rates that change with the time, the day and the area crossed.
This page gathers our public prices, explains how to read an airport flat fare, what makes a metered ride vary, and why a fixed price quoted before departure remains the simplest way to pay less for a taxi. All amounts below are starting prices, confirmed at booking based on your exact address.
How do the CDG and Orly taxi flat fares work?
The flat fare is a single price set by decree for a trip between central Paris and the airport, in both directions. Each airport has two amounts, depending on whether your address is on the right or left bank of the Seine.
For Roissy-CDG, to the north, the right bank gets the lower amount; for Orly, to the south, it is the left bank. The flat fare applies per vehicle, not per passenger, and it does not move in traffic jams or at night. A driver may neither exceed it nor undercut it, which is why we show it as it is. As soon as the address leaves Paris, towards the inner or outer suburbs, the trip leaves the flat fare; we then charge a fixed price worked out by quote, always given before departure.
- The flat fare covers central Paris ↔ airport, both ways.
- It is the same by day, by night, on weekdays or on Sunday.
- Luggage is included, with no per-suitcase surcharge.
- Outside Paris, the fixed price is given before booking.
Why does a metered ride vary so much?
On the meter, the price depends on a pick-up charge, a per-kilometre rate and waiting time billed in slow traffic. The applicable rate changes with the time, the day and the area, as set by the yearly prefectoral decree.
This mechanism is what makes the same trip more or less expensive from one day to the next: a ride in Paris on a Sunday evening, or towards the suburbs, does not fall under the same rate as a weekday daytime trip, and every minute stopped adds to the bill. Ride-hailing platforms set their prices freely and often raise them when demand is high. A fixed price quoted in advance removes both uncertainties: you know what you will pay before you get in.
How can you pay less for a taxi in Paris?
- Book ahead: the price is set at booking and no longer depends on traffic.
- Share the ride: the airport flat fare applies to the vehicle, not to each passenger.
- Check your bank: for CDG as for Orly, one of the two banks pays less.
- Give the exact address: a precise quote avoids any gap on arrival.
- For a middle-of-the-night flight, book the day before to secure the driver.
The sums often work best in a group: for three or four people with suitcases, a shared flat fare frequently costs barely more than train tickets, with no connection and no walk to the platform. For trips outside the flat fare, Beauvais, the parks or long distance, our fixed prices are set below usual taxi and ride-hailing market prices.
What is included and how to pay
The quoted price includes pick-up at your address or in the arrivals hall, any tolls, luggage and flight or train tracking. Payment is made on board, by card or cash, and a detailed invoice is provided on request, notably for expense claims.

How much is a taxi between Paris and CDG airport?
The trip falls under a regulated flat fare, the same for every taxi, with two amounts depending on the bank of your address. The starting amount is shown in the grid on this page.
Does the airport flat fare change at night or on Sunday?
No. The Paris ↔ CDG or Paris ↔ Orly flat fare is the same at any hour and on any day, traffic jams included.
Is the flat fare per person?
No, it applies to the vehicle. In a group, the cost per person drops accordingly.
Why does a metered ride cost more or less?
The meter combines a pick-up charge, distance and waiting time, with a rate that depends on the time, the day and the area. A fixed price booked ahead avoids those swings.
Are your prices outside the flat fare fixed?
Yes. For Beauvais, the parks, the suburbs or long distance, the price is worked out by quote and confirmed before departure, tolls included.
How do I pay for the ride?
On board, by card or cash. A detailed invoice is provided on request.
